29.10.2018: "Jute Story Beyond Bars” participated in Angavastra’s Fashion Runway Show in Ordnance Club, Kolkata on Sunday, 28.10.2018 to promote ‘Jute as a Fashion Statement.’ It is a conscious effort to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #UNSDGs in - #Climate Action where we strongly encourage use of eco-friendly Jute artefacts crafted by the prison inmates in our daily activities as a sustainable alternative towards a sustainable future.‘Jute Story Beyond Bars’ - An initiative by Rakshak Foundation with the support of Directorate of Correctional Services, Government of West Bengal is an attempt to take the creativity of the Human Resource behind the Bars, beyond Bars and a message of their undying hope and humble existence.









16.10.2018: On the festive occasion of Durga Puja, Rakshak Foundation organized a Puja Parikrama for the children of Naba Disha, Tollygunge. Rakshak Team along with 35 children of NabaDisha, Tollygunge boarded the bus arranged by the Kolkata Police Community Wing to begin on a fun-frolic day of pandal hopping. The children visited nearby pandals which included Muduali, Tridhara Sammilani, Ballygunge Cultural Association, Ekdalia Evergreen and lastly Chetla Aghrani. The children had a pleasurable time hopping around the city to see the creativity and skill of the artisans and the beautiful Idols to celebrate Durga Puja. The teams along with the children arrived back at Naba Disha at 1:30 pm. Ms. Monica Consul sponsored the lunch for the children of Naba Disha, Tollygunge. They were given Biryani in food packets which they enjoyed merrily bringing the event to a happy end.

Clothes Distribution at Naba Disha Tollygunge to Celebrate Durga Puja







13.10.2018: On the festive occasion of Durga Puja, Rakshak Foundation organized an event to distribute new clothes to the children of NabaDisha Tollygunge, which were sponsored by the CEO of Rakshak Group Mr. Jaydip Das. The clothes were distributed to 50 under-privileged children and 10 mothers along with their babies. The girls and boys received fancy frocks, t-shirts and jeans respectively, by our Guests of Honor, 7 Senior Citizen of Pronam - Old Age Home, an initiative of Kolkata Police. The mothers were given the Saris by Ms. Chaitali Das, Managing Trustee Rakshak Foundation. To celebrate the event the children performed a short cultural program for our Guests of Honour which was followed by distribution of food packets arranged by Ms. Das, which contained some snacks and sweets. The children were elated to receive new clothes and food packets which was a great way to start their Durga Puja celebration. The event was supervised by the Rakshak Team.

10.10.2018: The children of #NabaDisha #Tollygunge spent an activity packed evening with the Teachers and Students of #DeshbandhuCollegeForGirls along with Rakshak Foundation Team. This initiative was a part of their #NationalServiceScheme
Ms. Alpana Roy, Literacy Chairperson, Rakshak Foundation, and Ms. Anusri Sheth, Chairperson, NabaDisha welcomed the guests with #Jute #Rakhis, briefed the guests about the activities of Rakshak Foundation and NabaDisha. The NabaDisha children performed on "Desh Rangeela" for the guests as a token of gratitude.
We would like to thank Deshbandhu College for Girls for putting a smile on the faces of these children by spending an evening with them making Origami fish, swan, bird and dancing and singing their hearts out. We are grateful to them for distributing stationary items and food packets among the NabaDisha children aiding their health and education.
